George has lived and breathed motorsport from his very earliest years. With an older brother who was a national karting champion in his own right, the racetrack has always been his natural home. Now a victor of multiple Grands Prix, he remains one of the most exciting talents in the sport.

King's Lynn

Born on 15 February 1998 in King's Lynn, Norfolk, to Steve and Alison Russell — the youngest of three, with older sister Cara and older brother Benjy.

2010

Super 1 National Champion

Claimed the coveted Super 1 National Championship in the ROTAX Mini Max category, establishing himself as one of the top karting prospects in the UK.

2017

Mercedes Junior & GP3 Champion

Officially joined the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Junior Programme, backing it up with a GP3 Series championship win in his rookie season.

2018

Formula 2 Champion

Claimed the Formula 2 title at his first attempt with ART Grand Prix, scoring seven wins in 24 races, and became a Mercedes reserve driver.

2019

Formula 1 Debut

Made his F1 debut with Williams, consistently out-qualifying and out-racing a more experienced team-mate despite a difficult car.

2022

Maiden Grand Prix Win

Moved to Mercedes, took a first pole in Hungary and a maiden F1 victory at the São Paulo Grand Prix, leading home a Mercedes 1-2.

2024

Austria & Las Vegas

Back in the winners' circle with victories in Austria and Las Vegas, plus four poles — Canada, Las Vegas, Qatar and home at Silverstone.

Two wins from pole in Canada and Singapore, nine podiums, a career-high 319 points and P4 in the final standings.
